AR STORE. . .October 13th!!

Students will be able to "spend" the points that they have accumulated by reading books and taking AR quizzes at a "store" set up in the gym on Thursday, October 13th.  Follow the owl widget to be updated as PDS students take quizzes. Also, the widget shows current book titles that students have read.  Isn't technology amazing? Currently, students in grades 2-6 are quizzing, and they have read almost 900 books in two months!!!! That amounts to almost seven million words!!! First grade students will be taking the STAR Reading test soon.  Thank you to all PDS parents for encouraging your children to read and for supporting the library. According to Harry S. Truman, "Not all readers are leaders, but all leaders are readers."

A Day in the Life of the Library. . .

Freddy and 5th grade reading a book.
Eli engrossed in his book.
4k listening to and watching an ebook entitled "Me First" to enrich their classroom unit on manners.  Pinkerton always yelled "me first" for everything his class did, so when a voice asked who wanted a sandwich, he pushed ahead of the group and  encountered the sand"witch" (below). Our new big screen is wonderful!

AR will be ready to go Monday!  Students will be taking STAR Reading tests to determine their reading level, and we will begin checking out books next week in grades 1-6!  Please read A Parent's Guide to Accelerated Reader: http://doc.renlearn.com/KMNet/R003985016GG79F2.pdf. I am going to challenge this year's students to try and top the number of books read last year.  I'm looking forward to a great year of reading!

At the last AR store, students were able to "cash in" their points for prizes, and everyone also got a prize for meeting the school's goal. Thanks to Mrs. Pami Howarth and Mrs. Holly Sanders.
